New double-15
subwoofer shakes up Community's XLT500 Series
ANAHEIM, CA,
January 18, 2001--A versatile, high-efficiency device which brings
extended bass response and seismically-proportioned wallop to any of
Community's XLT500 full-range loudspeaker systems, the XLT509
subwoofer will make its inaugural appearance at this year's Winter NAMM.
Accountable in no
small part for the chest-crushing low-end performance originating
from behind the enclosure's ported faceplate are a pair of
Ferrofluidcooled 15-inch transducers. Capable of producing 130 dB SPL
peaks between 40 Hz and 150 Hz, with maximum input rated at 400W RMS,
1000W program, the trapezoidal subwoofer is rated at four ohms with a
sensitivity of 96 dB SPL at 1 W/1 m.
Backed by a
five-year limited warranty, the XLT509 is internally safeguarded by
the vigilant eye of Community's newly-improved IntelliSenseTM
circuitry and PowerMeterTm LED indicators to insure that peak
performance levels can be reached and maintained without risk of
damage to system components. Centrally located on the front panel,
the PowerMeter LEDs flash green to indicate signal presence, yellow
to warn that the system is entering its first stages of protection,
and red to show that full protection has been activated. Within
protection mode, IntelliSense automatically attenuates input levels
to within a safe range. Once gain has been reduced, the circuit
resets itself, thereby restoring full power and operation.
Measuring 34
inches high by 20 inches wide at the front and 18 inches deep, the
XLT509 enclosure is made from a newly-developed sandwich-core plywood
which is rugged yet extremely lightweight. Three external mounting
points, a stand adapter, corner protectors, recessed handles, and a
durable black carpet finish are included with the package, while both
a professional-grade interlocking connector and dual 1/4-inch jacks
are provided at a rear-mounted cast metal input panel. A short pole
for stand mounting is also provided as standard equipment, which can
be utilized to facilitate easy use with the XLT500 or XLT530 to
create a complete, freestanding system.
