New Karaoke Movie "Duets"

After many years of helping and hoping the all Karaoke Movie "DUETS" would get off the ground, it has finally become a reality. DUETS started filming this week in a rural community in Las Vegas. The first week of shooting will be held in Las Vegas and then they move to Vancouver, Canada. This movie, for those of you who don't know, has been a dream of mine and Pioneer's for the past five years. We have been working with its producer Kevin Jones to come up with a good script that would capture the essence of karaoke. Pioneer calls this magic the "Three Minute Dream"...a chance to be in the spot light for just a moment (good and bad singers alike). The rush is addicting, healing and therapeutic of sort...talk to any karaoke lover and you'll find out what I mean. HISTORY: Originally the karaoke script was pitched to SONY Pictures in 1995. Although they thought the script was an interesting concept , they were reluctant to sign it not knowing if karaoke would make a top selling movie. However, with the continued growth and exposure of karaoke in more and more TV and film it was signed in 1997. The producer then got his good friend Bruce Paltrow to direct it. Bruce is known primarily for many great TV shows including St. Elsewhere but never film. The one ace up Bruce's sleeve was that he had a daughter who's career was skyrocketing (Gwyneth Paltrow; Shakespeare In Love ; Emma; Seven; Sliding Doors;). So he got his daughter and then fiancee (Brad Pitt) to commit to being in the film. However, the engaged couple broke up and SONY put the film on the shelf. Still having the support of Gwyneth and her dad Bruce the producers set off to find another studio. Early last year DISNEY (Buena Vista International) also saw the HUGE karaoke consumer growth and agreed to distribute the film world wide which put the film back on the front burner. Pioneer's exposure will be major in this film. More importantly, this film will launch karaoke into the consumers eye as it never has before. We feel that Pioneer karaoke will be taken to heights never achieved by reaching millions and passing along the torch of karaoke fun. For those of you who have never done it you don't know what excitement you're missing. I guarantee you pioneer karaoke will be the "in" thing next year.
