LDI99 Boasts Record Attendance

  ORLANDO, FL NOVEMBER 19, 1999 First-day attendance figures for the 12 annual Lighting Dimensions International (LDI) trade show and conference report 10,600 attendees, an increase of 600 over LDI98 final attendance figures. The show continues through 4:30pm, Sunday, November 21. Final registration figures will be released in a post-show report.

  This year, 400 exhibiting companies occupy more than 130,000 net square feet of exhibit space at the Orange County Convention Center, making LDI99 the largest in show history. The exhibit hall features international manufacturers of entertainment technology including lighting, audio, staging, rigging, pyrotechnics, lasers, software and special effects.

  The LDI99 educational sessions, which continue through Sunday, include workshops, tutorials and in-depth training seminars for entertainment design and technology professionals. Highlights of Saturday's conference program include: a Master Class with Tony Award-winning Donald Holder ("The Lion King"); a technical workshop with Luc Lafortune, lighting designer for Cirque du Soleil, and his lighting directors; and a special three-hour Laser Design Portfolio, presented in association with ILDA (International Laser Display Association) and ILDA member Laser Production Network.

  The LDI99 and ESTA Awards, recognizing the greatest new technology showcased on the exhibit floor, take place Sunday, November 21, at 10:30am in the Orange County Convention Center Auditorium,

  Backstage Orlando, a behind-the-scenes look at the latest innovations in Orlando-area themed entertainment, takes place Sunday Wednesday, November 21-24. It includes visits to Cirque du Soleil, Walt Disney World and Universal's Islands of Adventure.

  LDI99 is sponsored by Lighting Dimensions, Entertainment Design, Sound & Video Contractor and Mix magazines, in partnership with ESTA (Entertainment Services & Technology Association). Additional support is provided by Intertec's Millimeter, Broadcast Engineering, World Broadcast News, Video Systems, Electronic Musician and Shopping Center World magazines.
